பதினைந்து வருடங்கள் கடந்த பின் பார்த்த முதல் ஈழவர் திரைப்படம். கட்டாயத்தின் பேரிலோ அன்றில் நட்புக்காகவோ என்று போய் பார்த்து விட்டு வீடு திரும்பும் போது என்னையே அது துரத்திக்கொண்டு வந்தது. ஏதாவது சொல்ல வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக 'நல்லா இருக்குது' என்று ஒரு வார்த்தையில் சொல்லி சமாளிக்கவும் தயாரில்லை. 'நல்லா இல்லை' என்றும் அரைகுறையாக சொல்லக்கூடாத நிலை வேறு. வீடு வந்து சேரும் வரை அதே சிந்தனை. பின் கடந்த 6 நாட்களாக 'கண்ணம்மா' பற்றியே சிந்தனை. இது தான் அதன் படைப்பாளிகளின் வெற்றி. சிந்திக்க வைத்துவிட்டார்கள்.
கொஞ்சம் குற்ற உணர்வு. எம்முள்ளே இத்தனை செழுமை கொண்ட படைப்புகளும் படைப்பாளிகளும் உலாவித்திரியும் நேரம் நான் வேறு மொழி படங்களினுள் உலாவித்திரிந்திருக்கின்றேன். என்ன அசட்டுத்தனம் அது. பதினைந்து வருட வனவாசத்தின் பின் மீண்டும் ஈழவர் படைப்பை நோக்கி படையெடுக்கும் நிலையை உருவாக்கிவிட்ட படம்.
ஒரு அனுபவமிக்க சினிமா ரசிகன் என்ற உரிமையில் படைப்பாளிகளிடமே குற்றம் சில சொன்னேன். ஒத்துக்கொண்டார்கள் எனது கருத்துக்களை. எதையும் புகழ்ந்து சொல்லவில்லை. புகழ்ந்து சொல்ல பல விடயங்கள் இருந்தும்.
புகழ வேண்டும் என்பது கட்டாயமெனில் ஒன்று மாத்திரம் சொல்லலாம். "நீங்கள் தளர்நடைப்பருவ குழந்தை அல்ல. வளர்ந்து விட்டீர்கள்."

I’m very glad I was able to attend the film, even though I arrived late — partly my fault and partly thanks to the Underground and Sunday railway delays. I missed around ten minutes at the start.
Overall, it was an excellent film, and, unfortunately, it isn’t reaching the wider audience that usually follows South Indian cinema. The actors were wonderfully natural, and many scenes had the quality and subtlety of an art film. The theme was strong, and the performances — especially Manian (formerly known for villain roles) and Kannamma's husband — were outstanding. They didn’t act; they lived their characters.
My only criticism is that the humor felt out of place and lowered the tone of an otherwise high‑quality film. Some jokes reminded me of the weaker side of Koundamani’s comedy.
Kannan’s love scene was refreshing and brought back memories from our own lives, rather than the typical South Indian cinema style.
The songs were very good, especially the one after drinking — it fit perfectly.
I thoroughly enjoyed the film..

நான் படத்தை பார்க்க வந்ததில் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சி. கொஞ்சம் தாமதமாக வந்தது — ஒரு பகுதி என் தவறும், மற்றொன்று Underground மற்றும் Sunday ரயில் தாமதமும். ஆரம்பத்தில் சுமார் 10 நிமிடம் தவறிவிட்டது.
மொத்தத்தில் படம் மிகச் சிறந்தது. தென்னிந்திய சினிமாவை விரும்பும் பெரிய ரசிகர் வட்டத்துக்கு இது இன்னும் சென்றடையாதது வருத்தமாக உள்ளது. நடிகர்கள் மிகவும் இயல்பாக நடித்திருந்தார்கள்; சில காட்சிகள் கலைப்படம் போல நுணுக்கமாக இருந்தது. கதையும் வலுவாக இருந்தது. குறிப்பாக மணியன் (முன்பு வில்லன்) மற்றும் கண்ணம்மாவின் கணவர் — அவர்கள் நடிக்கவில்லை, கதாபாத்திரமாகவே வாழ்ந்தார்கள்.
எனக்கு இருந்த ஒரே குறை — நகைச்சுவை தரம். உயர்தரமான படத்தின் ஓட்டத்தை அது கொஞ்சம் குறைத்தது. சில நகைச்சுவைகள் கௌண்டமணியின் பலவீனமான பக்கம் போல இருந்தது.
கண்ணன் காதல் காட்சி மிகவும் இயல்பாக இருந்தது; நம்முடைய வாழ்க்கை நினைவுகளைத் தூண்டியது. வழக்கமான தென்னிந்திய சினிமா ஸ்டைல் இல்லை.
பாடல்கள் மிகவும் நன்றாக இருந்தது, குறிப்பாக குடித்த பிறகு வரும் பாடல் — சூழலுக்கு சரியாகப் பொருந்தியது.

The storyline, characters, comedy, romance, music, and songs were unexpectedly good.
Felt very proud to be there as an Eelam Tamil.
Free flight back home and back without a passport.
We need to get into this distribution channel.
There is a big gap in Indian cinema now, due to the lack of good actors and storyline.
This is the best time to jump into this big distribution channel. Your acting and the comedians were so natural, and others too did justice to their characters. Keep producing work of this standard.
The movie is like food; you must stop at the right time, when the audience wants more rather than boring them; the movie had all the ingredients measured.
